The Pearl Harbor memorial, positioned over the wreckage of the USS Arizona. There are times when I am proud of my nation; they're not frequent, but they do happen. There are times when I shed tears for people I could never have known; they're very rare, but they do happen.

Both happened here.

During World War Two, America pulled itself out of a rut and acted like the leader it makes itself out to be. During that terrible war, hundreds of thousands of men, every one of them a hero, gave their lives to end the reign of a genocidal maniac. It was here that we pulled together to end the insanity that gripped too many nations of the world. It was here that we moved with pure intentions to avenge the senseless killing of our brethren. It was here where America shone, where the deaths of the innocent were not dishonored by a war fueled only by greed and corruption. It was here where we became what we only think we are now.

May all the souls lost that terrible day rest forever in peace.
